Hold On - Audience Feedback
Hold On - Audience Feedback
Following our pitch, we conducted some audience feedback in order to gain some valuable ideas about what people associated with the song and how they liked our concept so far. We prepared some questions and how we would go about asking people as shown below:
Give information about project and song etc.
What ideas come to mind when you read these lyrics?
Are there any particular themes that are represented through these lyrics?
Now you have listened to the song, what sort of emotions does it create?
Describe our concept.
Do you like our concept and what do you like/ dislike about it?
Do you have any ideas on how we could develop the concept further?
I then went about asking people in our demographic of listeners to alternative music and Walk Off the Earth in general using roughly the pre-planned questions and recording the audio of their response. In order to gain as many responses as possible and from older participants but that are still in our targeted demographic, I also used Survey Monkey to get text responses to similar questions. The SoundCloud file below is the result as well as the Survey Monkey survey and its questions and answers too.

Q:Read these lyrics - http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/walkofftheearth/holdonthebreak.html. What ideas or themes come to mind?
As:Literally holding on to a difficult relationship and knowing thing will get better
Love and staying together no matter what happens.
Theme of love and relationships probably between young people
Niavity, love, struggle.
Q:Now listen to the song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQsMDmxus8Y. What emotions do you feel whilst listening?
As:A mixture of sadness during the slow beginning then a lot more cheerful after the first chorus.
The upbeat parts are mainly happy while at the start the slow parts are reflecting of the sadder part of the lyrics.
Mostly happiness as it's very catchy
A bit melancholy with it being slow at first but then a lot more dramatic and joyful after a while
Q:Our basic concept for a music video using this song is of a couple initially shown arguing and one walking out on the other. However, as they're separated they see things that remind them of past happier times together and trigger flashbacks. They then eventually turn to go find each other with the video ending when they do so and the couple reconciled. Do you like this initial concept? Is there anything we could change or add?
As:The concept seems like a good one I haven't seen anything like it before.
It looks like a really good concept, I hope it goes well!
Sounds pretty unique and maybe include them first meeting as a flashback perhaps?
I like the concept. So far nothing sounds bad.
