Alternative Pop Web Site Research
Alternative Pop Web Site Research
Walk Off the Earth
The site's homepage focuses on a promotional photo of the band with black and red signposting links above it and links to purchase their new album below it. The red and black colours are synonymous with the band's logo whilst the emphasis on their new album and links to the many means of purchasing it promote sales. The white but paint-stained background allows the black and red text to be easily read whilst still looking aesthetically pleasing.
Further down, the website displays the latest social media and news from the band, both promoting watching their YouTube videos, purchasing their music and tour dates available for booking.
Clicking onto their 'TOUR' and 'STORE' tabs brings up useful information concerning how to and when you can book tour tickets to see them live whilst their store offers Walk Off the Earth physical copies such as vinyl and CD as well as WOTE branded apparel.
Twenty One Pilots
Unlike Walk Off the Earth, Twenty One Pilots has a much more rock orientated style and this is reflected in the striking red and black background with the two artists in the foreground bearing red and and white clothing. The image also has a slow zoom out on it whilst the surrounding shapes remain still, giving an interesting 3D effect.
Scrolling down, the first section is the band's store selling band branded apparel to entice visitors to spend money on their clothing as well as their music. The clothing, like the band and its website, is loud and contains the band's signature typography. This is a simplistic font but with the band's signature crossed 'O' that makes it unique.
Like Walk Off The Earth, the band also has sections for social media (with even a newsletter you can sign up for), a tour dates list with how an where to purchase tickets, a spotlight on their new album and how to purchase it as well as embedded music videos from the band's YouTube channel and various of media of the band such as photos.
Imagine Dragons
Like the previous two artists, Imagine Dragons' website homepage focuses on a large image but is more interactive than the other two as it switches between different images. The images then act as links to various parts of the site such as tour dates, the band's latest music videos and their store selling their albums and singles as well as band branded products such as clothes and watches.
Other unique features of the website also include a stagnant image behind each section of the homepage which remains still as the visitor scrolls whilst the foreground information moves. This effect is unique and aesthetically pleasing whilst, at the same time, displays relevant pictures of the band and promote their image and music.
The website also has all the archetypical sections the other two websites had and display them, although with a different artily, in a similar layout with only altered colour, text and graphics. Whilst the band has a unique font for its logo, the site's text is in a clear, clean white text
